What is UV Germicidal Lighting?

Germicidal lighting utilizes UV (Ultraviolet) light between 180 and 400nm and is proven to be effective in the killing of Viruses, Pathogens, and Bacteria & Fungi. Pathogens can’t adapt to develop resistance to UV light, making it an ideal choice in the fight against Covid-19, Influenzas, and other bacteria.

UV-C (254nm) is the UV spectrum used in most equipment on the market. The UV band at 254nm sterilizes, and is proven to eradicate all pathogens, both virus and bacteria. It works by attacking RNA/DNA of microorganisms by changing the genetic bonds, stopping the replication and reducing the spread of the virus.

Far-UV-C (222nm) is a newer technology that operates in a shorter wavelength than UV bands (A, B and C) making it effective against pathogens with safer exposure. Far-UV-C attacks and destroys cells completely, so that they cannot remain infectious.

Both UV-C and Far UV-C are extremely effective in reducing the spread of viruses and pathogens. With technology backed by 10+ years of peer reviewed research.

How Effective is UV lighting in neutralizing Micro-Organisms?

Micro-organisms are ranked as follows:

v Class 1 - Small, Non-Enveloped Viruses (< 50-nm), which are considered “highly resistant”

to disinfection are the hardest to kill.

v Class 2 - Large, Non-Enveloped Viruses, which are considered “less resistant” to

disinfection and are less hard to kill.

v Class 3 - Enveloped Viruses, which are considered “least resistant” to disinfection and are

the easiest to kill (this includes Covid-19, influenza and Ebola viruses).

All the UV lighting products offered by Safe Glow Inc. have a 99.9% inactivation rate against Class 1 viruses, thus, are highly effective against the lesser Class 2 and Class 3 viruses.
